Ayyam-i-Ha Party 2010

Baha'is celebrate the festival of Ayyam-i-Ha each year from sunset on Feb. 25 to sunset of March 1 as a preparation for the Fast, which begins March 2 and ends March 20. During Ayyam-i-Ha, members of the Faith perform acts of charity, give gifts to friends and family, and attend social gatherings.

February 2012 - Education Under Fire Events

The Peninsula Baha'is assisted students at Hampton University and at Christopher Newport University in holding events to raise awareness and inspire action to defend the right to education for Baha'is in Iran.

March 2012 - Naw-Rúz celebration at Peking Buffet

Naw-Rúz is one of nine holy days in the Bahá'í Faith and the first day of the Bahá'í calendar - occurring on the vernal equinox, around March 21. It is the only one that is not associated with an event in the lives of either the Báb or Bahá'u'lláh. It is usually a festive event observed with meetings for prayer and music and dancing.

July 2012 Holy Day Observance - Martydom of the Bab

The Martyrdom of the Báb took place on July 9, 1850 at noon. An event with no parallel in history save the crucifixion of Jesus, it is commemorated as a solemn Holy Day by Bahá'ís around the world.

October 2017 - Bicentenary Celebration - Birth of Baha'u'llah

The Peninsula Baha'is held a celebration commemmorating the 200th anniversary of the Birth of Baha'u'llah, Founder of the Baha'i Faith, at the Newport News Marriott at City Center. The program included a short devotional and introduction, displays depicting the exiles of Baha'u'llah from Tehran to Akka, refreshments and fellowship.
